Our Mission...
The purpose of Kearney Public School's Bearcat Diner is to prepare and serve nutritious and appealing meals that meet the dietary guidelines to students, staff, and community in a positive, cheerful manner, while maintaining financial soundness, and contributing to the quality and excellence of a student's education experience.



Parents:

The "Bearcat Diner" is the food service division of the Kearney Public Schools. Our main office is located at Sunrise Middle School. We employ 47 people and operate on a 1.5 million dollar budget. We serve over 3000 lunches and 500 breakfast meals per day. The Bearcat Diner operates within guidelines set forth by the United States Department of Agriculture through the Child Nutrition Program administered by the State of Nebraska Department of Education. Therefore, our food service programs are governed by federal and state regulations as well as our local guidelines.

We now prepare almost all menu items on site at all of our schools. This enables us to provide you with a fresh, quality product. We use "self-service" fruit and vegetable bars enabling students more freedom of choice.

Our middle schools offer three entree choices daily. We are offering "restaurant pizza" two days per week. We have increased our selection of a la carte items to offer further choices.

The Senior High school cafeteria offers up to four entree choices daily. We are also offering "restaurant pizza" three times a week. A la carte selection has increased. The "Pitstop" snack bar continues to be a very popular alternative to the traditional cafeteria. Another snack bar called "Paws", is located on the east side of the cafeteria is open during lunch to provide additional lunch options.
