Summer Reading Institute
Reading is one of the biggest contributors to educational success. It is the goal of our district to keep all of our students reading to their highest potential. To avoid summer learning loss, children must continue to read during the summer months. Kearney Public Schools has developed the Summer Reading Institute to encourage students to practice and maintain vital reading skills.
What is the Summer Reading Institute?
The
Summer Reading Institute is a reading program for students to maintain
and/or improve reading skills based on district standards and
assessments. Students will be placed in groups according to their
reading level for optimum instruction and practice. The student to
adult ratio will be 10-1, giving students focused instructional
interaction. Students will receive instruction in reading strategies
through the KPS Balanced Reading program.
6 Week Session� 4 days a week�2.5 hours a day�
= 60 hours of Reading Instruction!
June 2-July 17
Monday -Thursday
(no classes July 2-6)
9:00-11:30
Grade Levels:
Students Entering Grades 1-2-3-4-5-6
Tuition:
$200 per child
$150 Reduced Lunch Families
& families with more than one child attending.
$100 Free Lunch Families
